The Volkswagen Tiguan
When approached by the creative team to help solve a problem of how to turn 2D photos into moving objects, I was in. This was a project packed with high expectations and little time and budget to make it happen. The solve was shooting our car and talent on a stage, using a photographer and a very hires camera for the animation of the images. The other elements that needed to be created were backplates that lived within the Tiguan worlds. I helped curate these images to find the best solution for each of the different scenes. As images were selected, I built pre-comps which were then tested to ensure the animation would work.
After each of these comps were approved, we took them on set for visual reference of how we wanted to shoot the people and vehicle. We needed to ensure that the perspective of the talent and SUV was going to work with the perspective created in the backgrounds. Being on set allowed me to help with art direction, lighting direction, and answer any technical questions to get these elements to fit within the backgrounds.
My roles in the project included, pre-production planning, comp creation, compositing, on-set art direction and technical direction, and team management and leadership along with creative direction with the environments in each of the worlds.
